Taxation Services

The majority of the taxation work we carry out for clients usually falls into two main areas:

Preparation of personal tax returns

For some reason, even with all the help the Inland Revenue provides, the completion of the annual tax return is one task most taxpayers are quite happy to pass over to an accountant. At Bambury & Co we provide clients with a streamlined tax return preparation service using state-of-the-art software to input information, calculate the tax liability and print out a copy of the tax return ready for signature. We can even arrange for the completed tax return to be filed electronically.

As explained on the Fees & Charges page, our fixed fee for the preparation of a standard personal tax return is £100. This includes not only the preparation of the tax return but also filing it with the Inland Revenue on your behalf and answering any questions that they might raise.

Where your tax affairs are more complicated than usual, e.g. you are a Lloyd's "name" or an expatriate, then we would quote you an individual fee before taking on the work. Again, the fee would cover not only the preparation of the tax return but also filing it with the Inland Revenue on your behalf, answering any questions they might raise on the return and agreeing the final liability.

Advice on tax mitigation

In 1929 Lord Clyde expressed the view:

"No man in this country is under the smallest obligation, moral or other, so to arrange his legal relations to his business or to his property to enable the Inland Revenue to put the largest possible shovel into his stores....."

As a professional firm we can never condone tax evasion, which is illegal, but we can advise clients on arranging their tax affairs so that they avoid paying more tax than they need to. Our view, as expressed by Lord Clyde, is that sensible tax avoidance by a taxpayer is a totally legitimate exercise.

We can advise clients on:

In accordance with our practice on Fees & Charges we would always quote a fixed fee for work of this nature.
